		<description>The only thing that really matters is whether you have an available digital audio input (sounds like you do). If you have a suitable input you can connect the audio out of the Blu-ray player to the input of the HT receiver and connect the HDMI Blu-ray video output direct to an HDTV. Without an HDMI input you won&#039;t benefit from the advanced audio formats (but don&#039;t have the decoders for them anyway).

BUT note that you must have an HDTV to benefit.

You should consider carefully whether you want to buy Blu-ray. It&#039;s expensive and many people don&#039;t feel there is sufficient benefit over DVD. Unless you have a 40&quot;+ 1080p HDTV you won&#039;t get that much better picture than upconverted DVD ... but will pay much more. DVDs are not going anywhere soon.</description>
