Using separate HD player with Home Theater out of box?

If I buy an HD DVD player (let’s say a budget Toshiba A3), can it plug in to a home theater out of the box deal such as Philips DVD Home Theater System with iPod Dock – HTS3544 ? I want the sound from the Philips system but want the HD visual quality of the separate player. Looking for the best deal for surround sound and being able to play HD movies.

Hi,

I am thinking about purchasing the Philips HTS5800H home theater system as described on the Phillips website. But is it a good system, will the speakers sound nice? Our living room is about 14 x 14 feet and it would be nice if we could play music to the adjoining kitchen.

Thank you for any help that you may provide as there is no reviews on any website.

im trying to buy a hometheater system now i have an idea on what to look for but if i get one (A home theater system) with an upconversion of 1080i can i hook it up to my regular tv or my projector… not sure how that works?
