I need assistance with the sound. My DVD plays fine, but when I watch TV i have to use the TV volume. I really want to use the speakers surround sound in aux. Need help please. My TV is also Phillips HDTV LCD 52″

I have a Bravia Sony DVD dvd home theater system and just got it and havn’t even set it up yet and was wondering if you can hook it up to a HDTV, or TV in general?
